“The Algebra of Happiness” by Scott Galloway

Can true happiness be found in math. No. At least I don’t think so. Despite what the title may lead you think, this book doesn’t dive into solving equations that attempt to prove happiness. It does give some candid advice and observations on what makes a happy, and well-lived life. Written by a man looking back at his life, this appeals to where I am now in live, and also makes me wish I read something like this when I was younger. The college-age version of me would have gotten a lot out of this book.

Reading "The Algebra of Happiness" by Scott Galloway

As with most books written by men looking back at their lives, the author is a millionaire, so couldn’t help but take some of what he said with a bit of a grain of salt. He freely admits in the book that to a certain extant money can absolutely buy happiness. So if large sums of it aren’t in your calculations, then your algebra may not add up quite the same as his. However, there are some very universal observation and very relatable stories in here that apply to anybody.

A quick, easy read that you can walk away with some perspective and opportunities to shift your focus in live if happiness is something you’re after. Check it out from your local library, or support my local book store.
