“Myth America” by Kevin M. Kruse and Julian E. Zelizer

Having an interest in American history (a trait I find common in most dads), “Myth America” appeals to both my interest in what has happened before and what is happening now. Though a collection of essays written by historians, this book breaks down many current talking points based on a historical perspective to see what (if any) truth there is to them.

Reading the book "Myth America"

Covering topics from immigration and the boarder to social protests and voter fraud, this book covers a lot of ground. I found it interesting to see the historical background of many of the issues we are still facing as a country today, and the deeper context you can put today’s headlines and sound bites into. Spoiler – most of what is going on today can be attributed to sins of the forefathers.

If you have even a general interest in American history, support your local bookstore (or library) and give it a read.
